STANDING SEAM DOUBLE LOCK SYSTEM
The Double Lock Standing Seam system is a roof and façade covering system. The traditional design offers architects freedom in their design as it can adapt and complement almost any roof shape. By forming a double fold on the up-stands, the Standing Seam profile allows long strips of profiled metal to be assembled creating distinctive shadow line effect. The Standing Seam sheets are laid on continuous ventilated decking and anchored using fixed or sliding concealed fixing clips. The low height of the seams (25mm) contributes to the agility and uniformity of the roof. When dealing with more complex designs this system portrays a more technologically advanced appearance. This system is particularly suitable for very large cladding surfaces and for structures located in regions of harsh climate, which are often subject to snowfall (mountainous continental climate), strong winds, and heavy rain.
Key Features
• Standard panel widths are 330mm for Aluminium or Colorbond and 430mm for Zinc- these are designed to reduce waste due to the coil widths available. (wider panels are available but may result in distortion or oil-canning.)
• Perfect for both renovations, new residential & commercial buildings.
• Ease of installation with the use of seaming machines, significantly reduces installation time.
• Optimum water & wind resistance performance.
• Pitch options from 3º to a vertical installation.
• Installed on minimum 15mm plywood to walls and 19mm to roofs. The inclusion of the Proctor vapour membrane will allow the plywood to dissipate any moisture and negate the customary air gap behind the ply on a stud-wall installation.
• Material thickness 0.8 mm aluminium, 0.55mm Colorbond and 0.7mm for Zinc and Copper.
Installation
- Standing Seam is installed with concealed clips on a minimum 19 mm plywood as roof underlay.
- For Roofing application the 25 mm seam is closed twice to avoid water ingress.
- A continuous ventilation air gap should be left clear behind the plywood. However, with the inclusion of Proctor vapour membrane on the outside, the plywood -if wet- can dissipate moisture through the outer face and negate the gap at the back. This will then allow for plywood to be fixed directly to a stud-frame.
Testing to Australian Standards
Standing Seam and Archclad™ Cliptray 25 mm profiles have been tested to Australian Standards 4040.3-1992 "Methods of testing sheet roof and wall cladding method 3: Resistance to wind pressures for cyclone regions" and AS 4040.2- 1992 “Methods for testing sheet roof and wall cladding, Method 2: Resistance to Wind Pressures for Non-Cyclonic Regions.” Therefore, satisfying the testing requirements of AS/NZS 1562.1-1992 design and Installation of Sheet Roof and Wall Cladding - Metal.
Architectural Cladding Australia Standing Seam and Cliptray profiles have been tested to Australia Standards AS/NZS 1170.2:2002 Structural Design Actions - Part 2: Wind Actions. Clause 5.3.2. This report details the results of the debris impact testing carried out on a sample of Architectural Cladding Australia's profile only.
All Archclad materials are non- combustible and have been tested to AS 1530.3-1999 Method for Fire tests on Building Materials, Components and Structures Part 3: simultaneous Determination of Ignitability, Flame Propagation, Heat release and Smoke Release.
